Byron Courts, LEED AP, Green Globes Professional
Byron is Director of Engineering Services at MMDC. He has been part of MMDC’s development team for over 25 years. He is responsible for reviewing all mechanical, electrical & plumbing scope and assuring that each building meets the highest quality livability and energy performance.
Prior to MMDC, Byron Courts was Director of Engineering Services for 40 years at Melvin Mark Companies. As the company’s first LEED AP, Byron initiated many green and sustainable efforts. Working with the Energy Trust of Oregon, Byron did energy retrofits for lighting and HVAC Systems on several properties in downtown Portland and the Sunset Corridor.
Over the course of Byron’s career, his work has helped to save over 8,000,000 kilowatt hours of electricity annually. His areas of expertise include building management, building mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, sustainable building practices and energy efficiency.
As a LEED accredited professional, Byron provides building owners and operators a concise framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.
